Mr. Ron Rowe is our June "Pool Shark" with 33 win points this month. This is Ron's 14th title

outside, so you may join us on Wednesday nights from 6:00 to 7:30 PM. Good company and

SUN LAKES REPUBLICAN CLUB
AUGUST 17TH MOVIE NIGHT

Please note that the meeting is on the third Tuesday, August 17th at 7:00 PM in the Arizona
Room of Sun Lakes Country Club, 25601 S. Sun Lakes Blvd. We normally meet on the 2nd
Tuesday of the month.

Pinal County Sheriff, Paul Babeu, will speak on the daily life of one of his deputies so that the
audience can get a real sense of what is going on at the border.

An informative documentary, entitled "Border War" will be shown. It tells the true story of 5
people directly impacted by the "illegal problems" at our border: a border patrol agent, the
widow of a police officer killed by an illegal, a legal immigrant who started "Legal Immigrants
Against Illegal Immigration," a rancher, and a man who aids those crossing illegally into the
US. For information, contact Patricia Koepp.

SUN LAKES DEMOCRATIC CLUB

As we indicated last month, we would try to find out more about the local Democratic Club. It
is in Sun Lakes and meets on the 2nd Monday of each month. They also ask area politicians
to speak about either their campaign or their job in politics. The club is also involved in an
ongoing project which helps the homeless and hungry in our area. For more information you
can find flyers at the Sun Lakes community buildings or call Ruth Kloner or Grace Roth. They
are eagerly looking forward to meeting new members.

Neighbors Who Care, Inc.

NWC has a new staff member! Congratulations to Arlena Zuzga, new Volunteer Manager.
Neighbors Who Care volunteers who perform Minor Repairs for enrolled clients are
contributing to the stability of the Sun Lakes and south Chandler communities that NWC
serves. Minor Repair volunteers help clients by providing small repairs inside a client's home
and performing minor installations such as changing a light bulb, installing a new air filter or
repairing a broken door latch. Clients report satisfaction and appreciation for the skills offered
by our Minor Repair volunteers! Another NWC service offers to enrolled clients is Business
Assistance & Benefits Help. Clients who request NWC volunteers for Business Assistance
receive help with opening and sorting mail, personal correspondence, organizing bills and
gathering information for personal tax filing. Volunteers who provide Benefits Help for NWC
clients have completed a twenty-four hour Benefits Assistance training sponsored by the Area
Agency on Aging, Region One, Incorporated.

These two services, along with other NWC services, demonstrate the NWC mission in action
in the Sun Lakes and south Chandler communities served by the agency: The comfort of
home and the dignity of independence; at Neighbors Who Care, community volunteers help
the elderly live at home.
